Note that since only the best five races for any team or individual count, positions after all races may change markedly from those after five. In the event of any ties in the first three in any division, I will first compare the worst races of the teams or runners concerned, and failing that, which one has finished ahead of the other the most times, while if that too fails, I will compare aggregate times. Final League Race This will be held on Wednesday 23rd February, at 3.15pm. Brunel University are organising this race. It will be run on a course south of the Brunel University campus. Changing facilities will be available at Brunel's athletics track in Kingston Lane, and the course is a few hundred metres away in Pield Heath Road. Parking is available at the track but not at the course. The course is the same as that used last year. If you are travelling by public transport, Uxbridge station (Metropolitan Line) is nearest, and a bit more than a mile away, and buses from the station (U4 and U7) stop in Kingston Lane near the track. Maps are enclosed, and explain how to get there by road. AGM and Presentation These will be held an hour or so after the sixth race, as soon as the results have been calculated. You should ensure that your college is represented at the AGM. The two main reasons for the AGM are to elect a secretary and treasurer for the league, and decide the venues and dates for the fixtures. The AGM is especially important this year as I plan to take early retirement from UCL in the summer, and I will then be living in Dorset, so it would be difficult for me to continue to organise the league. According to the League rules the Secretary and Treasurer should be elected annually, although for many years I have been re-elected unopposed. However, before I took the post it was done for a year at a time by a series of students and college staff. I see no reason why the same could not happen again, if there is no-one able to do it for more than a year. I will be willing to help, from a distance, anyone who takes over, will try to get to some of the races if I can, and will let the the new organiser have a copy of my results program and give them training. Perhaps the League could have two organisers, each in post for two years, with only one of them replaced each year to give some overlap and continuity, or maybe one of the members of staff who runs would be willing to support for a number of years a series of Secretaries who do most of the work. If anyone has any other ideas I am happy to discuss them. Also, a new venue will be needed for a race next winter, as Hackney Marshes will not be available. If your college is able to arrange a race on a new course, please let us know at the AGM if not before.
